As a past recipient of counseling services and lifelong learner, student, and practitioner of mental health care, I understand the struggles that behavioral health can bestow upon us. I also understand the benefit that working on oneself can have on one’s wellbeing. Healing takes lot of hard work, dedication and most of all patience as change does not happen overnight but the benefits make the journey all the worth while.
As your therapist I am passionate about helping you in your healing journey. I not only love helping others, but thoroughly enjoy the work that I do. I am also a lifelong learner, constantly studying up on the field. I am continuously trying to stay ahead so that I can be the most proficient and skilled therapist that I can be for my clients.
Therapy is my calling and I cannot wait to be part of the process with you!
I was born in Guadalajara, Mexico to Canadian and Mexican parents. I grew up in Mexico until my early teens giving me a diverse cultural and ethnic background. I later moved to the United States where I received my bachelor's degree in Psychology at Arizona State University. During my studies in psychology, I worked as a research assistant, teacher assistant and Success Coach for students at ASU who needed assistance with adjusting to college life and their academics. I was fortunate to have received Coach of Year award in 2007. While a student at ASU, I also enlisted in the Army National Guard and later Reserves and served as a sergeant for the Patient Administration Division of the 7220th Medical Support Unit and 7253rd Army Hospital.
After graduating with my bachelor's degree, I went on to get my graduate degree in Clinical Social Work from Arizona State University. My studies focused on the treatment of mental health in adults. During this time I completed an internship at the Southern Arizona Veteran Affairs Hospital in Tucson, Arizona. After completion of my degree I went on to work at La Frontera, a nonprofit and community mental health clinic that serves Medicare and Medicaid clients. While working as a therapist at La Frontera I had the chance to receive the highest honor and award at the agency, the Person In Excellence Award in 2016 and later was promoted to the position of clinical coordinator.
In January of 2018 I founded Integrative Therapy Solutions drawing on my experience, knowledge and insights over the last decade from my studies and work in the field to develop a unique and innovative clinic that is one of its kind. As a therapist I enjoy working with a diverse set of clinical populations and conditions and are known for my personable, down to earth therapeutic style. I strive to embody a balance of empathy and kindness with logic and structure.
I utilize an integrative approach to therapy. I do not believe there is ‘one size fits all’ approach to getting to know you nor what is best to help you feel better. I utilize an integrative approach to understand your presenting concerns as well things that may be helpful for your healing journey. In addition, I draw on your own strengths, knowledge and wisdom and take in account your own therapeutic needs and desires to help meet your goals. As part of an integrative approach, I lastly strive to provide a balanced therapeutic experience that is both warm and caring while also logical and pragmatic. Come an experience an integrative approach to healing!
